Up, Up, And Away!

On Mother's Day, Rick and I got up very early...4:30am early and drove out west to the polo fields to see the Balloon Festival. It was an amazing to see all these colorful balloons filling up and taking off as the sun came up. Then it was our turn for a ride! Neither of us had ever been up in a hot air balloon before.

The feeling was so strange...not exactly weightless more no sensation at all. We were actually talking away to the pilot and didn't even realize we were already about 50 feet off the ground! There is more motion going up in an elevator than in the balloon. It was crazy!

This was one of the most amazing things I have ever done and it made this Mother's Day one of the most special! Thank you Boo for always going on crazy adventures with me even at 4:30 in the morning! I love you so very much!

And an added bonus when we got home, brunch with all the kids! Apple cinnamon pancakes! YUM!!!

A Wonderful Cause

Some of you may have seen this on the local or national news over the past few weeks.

On February 27th what should have been a routine traffic stop, Officer Peter Laboy pulled over a cab driver who had been reported for harassing customers at a King Street boutique in Alexandria, VA. Officer Laboy had stopped his motorcycle and was just getting off it when he was shot in the head.

Doctors described his injury as catastrophic, something that most people would not have survived. But survive he did and it is nothing short of a miracle!

I did not hear about Officer Laboy until I received a message in our Etsy shop last week.  It seems Officer Laboy is a real fan of Superman, I believe he may even have a Superman tattoo. In honor of this true "Superman" and to help raise funds for his family...his wife Suzanne and their four boys, on April 21st there is going to be a Golf Tournament and silent auction. All the items donated in the silent auction have to do with Superman! I thought that was pretty cool.  :)  Another pretty amazing detail is most of the donated items I have seen on their Facebook page look to be all handmade items! People can be pretty amazing! Please check out the links for more information and do what you can to support your local law enforcement!

I will post later what Rick and I are sending in for the silent auction. Rick designed a really special iPhone case for the officers in Alexandria, VA...I am really impressed with how this one came out!

With how closely Rick has worked with the police officers in our area we just had to help out!

Shop Updates

Our Etsy shop ~ Party Of Ten has been open 6 months now! We have made it through our first major Holiday rush, mailing deadlines, and we are still going!  :)

So what to do now...a shop update and maybe a little facelift! I hope you will stop by to see our changes! Our first addition is Party Of Ten can now be followed on Facebook! Stop by and "Like" our page!

In Full Holiday Mode

I know I said I was back and would be posting more...more often, but ever since "Black Friday" The shop has been crazy with sales. Which is great but completely unexpected and we were not ready for the amount of orders that have come in! We even ran out of our black iPhone 4 cases...TWICE!

I am also pretty sure the girls at our Post Office dislike me...A LOT! lol Yes, I am that terrible person that runs in at 4:45 after work with 11 packages to mail out. But we just started printing our postage at home so now I only need to stand in line for the over seas orders.  :) I still feel bad stacking all these boxes up on their counter! Another new thing we have the tracking numbers now!!! Yay! I think that was my biggest worry ~ "What if something gets lost!" OK one of my biggest worries next to of course; "What if they don't like our stuff once they see it in person!" >.< Rick says I worry too much. lol I still worry about the International orders...they take so long to arrive!!!

Well these iPhone cases, bracelets, and headbands are not going to make themselves, I better get back at it if I want to be sure to make all the Holiday mailing deadlines!
