Hi, I'm back again with some more of my Mickey Mouse party decor! I had such a good time making these for my sister Stephanie and little Maddox. The whole idea for the Mickey decor started when my sister asked if I could come up with a cute tag to put on the party favors.
Stephanie found these great Mickey and Minnie pails at Party City and even more cute Mickey and Minnie things to fill them with. So in keeping with the theme I wanted tags to match. My sister's only request was to have the children's names be on them. Easy enough...right! So once I had all the names I got the polka dot embossed cardstock from Bazzill to use for the tags. (The spots reminded me of Minnie.) I resized the Mickey head from Maddox's birthday shirt project from earlier this week and added the names using the Waltograph front again. The font can be found here.
*Just a note - Things I learned while making the tags, the embossed cardstock did not cut so well in the Silhouette. I think the font was a little fancy for the size, I had to hand cut a lot of the names to get the letters out. So the Waltograph font might be better to use for larger projects. I had the most trouble with the letter S and R.
I was able to cut 4 tags out of one 12x12 sheet of cardstock.
The birthday sign (above) for Maddox was cut out of one 12x12 sheet of Bazzill cardstock and worked out much better then the tags did. No hand cutting here! :) I backed the sign with a second Mickey head in yellow because I wasn't sure where my sister was going to use them and I liked the yellow behind the cut out greeting.
I also decorated the red gift bag I found at Target to match. Can you believe they didn't have any Mickey Mouse gift bags! No problem...I made my own! I used the same size Mickey as the Birthday sign but this time I used the Minnie font, which cut out perfectly and still has the Disney look!
The final project was the Mickey Garland! I resized the original Mickey head again to fit 16 on a 12x12 sheet of cardstock. Then I did the same for the circles filling a 12x12 page for each color. I needed 2 sheets of the Mickey heads and 1 each of the red and yellow circles to make a 10 foot garland.
Once everything was cut out (only took a few minutes with the Silhouette...loving this machine!) I sewed them all together using black thread. This came out so cute I wish I had made a few more to hang around the party!
My sister just told me they hung the garland in Maddox's bedroom now that the party is over! So cute! :)
Here is the link again for the tutorial I found on creating the Mickey head using the Silhouette Design Studio. If you have a chance check out the My Insanity Blog, she had tons of great tips and ideas!
I hope you enjoyed checking out Maddox's Mickey Party! I hope you will come back this weekend and check out the Easter Subway Print I am working on. :)
