This week always goes by too fast! For Spring Break our daughter Jessica (Now 18) made plans to go to St. Petersburg on the west coast of Florida (About 4-5 hours from our house) to see her "FAVORITE" band in concert with her BFF Katie. They planned the route they would drive, where they would stay, the whole thing! This was an early graduation gift...Rick and I got her the tickets and her Dad and Joyce got the hotel for the weekend. Everything was all set until - we confirmed the hotel! It was at that time we found out they needed a credit card to check in. How do other kids go on spring break each year??? They certainly don't have their parents tagging along! Which in all honesty I don't think is a bad idea...maybe there would be more, safe fun and less "girls gone wild" fun! lol So Rick and I ended up going on a mini stay-cation...just to check them in, so weird. But at least Jessica and Katie didn't seem to mind having us there too much...we did pay for food! lol
We let the girls be, as if they had gone on the trip alone. They took the car to the concert leaving us around 10am, total groupies they are! So Rick and I went on a St. Pete adventure! I mean who wants to be stuck in a hotel room ALL day!
We hopped on the bus and took it all the way down to the Waterfront. We enjoyed a gorgeous Florida day just walking around and shooting photos of whatever caught our eye (And each other!). Since it was St. Patrick's Day weekend we found a great Irish Pub downtown called MacDinton's at Jannus Live where we saw the Celtic Dancers and had an amazing traditional Irish dinner, which did NOT include cornbeef and cabbage! ;) It was a great day and we made a lot of fun memories!
On Sunday before heading back home we took a trip over to the Gulf so the girls could see the difference in the beach compared to what we have on the east coast. I think we all agreed that their beach was 100% nicer not to mention A LOT bigger! Not surprising that St. Pete Beach made the top 10 beaches for the US list!
So what do you have planned for your spring break...staying close to home or traveling?
And Jessica is 18! It looks like it turned out to be a fab weekend for everyone. So happy that you are happy, Jenn. Love the "Jenn + Rick" in the sand. :)
